PROGRAM

The ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN program at the Guthrie Center is a (3) year program.
It begins with students their sophomore year (10th grade) and takes them through to their senior (12th grade) year of graduating.
We recommend that students take Art during their freshman year (9th grade) at their home campus as many principles in Art can be applied to exercises we go through.

Architectural Design is a rigorous program in order to faithfully prepare students to enter architectural college and the profession.
The typical path for becoming a licensed and registered architect is attending architectural college from an accredited college with a professional degree in architecture (5 Years), plus about (3) Years of internship before taking the state license registration exam.
Related field requirements vary (Interior Design, Construction Management, Industrial Design, etc.).

Our students in Architectural Design @ The Guthrie Center get the benefit of taking classes from instructors who came from the study and profession of architecture, more information about them found [HERE]

If you are unfamiliar with the process of becoming a Licensed Architect, or want to learn more, please click here for more information:

Our classes must be taken in sequence with no gaps or semesters off between.
Once completed, students receive an endorsement in Business & Industry from SBISD, with the graduation pathway of Architecture.
2nd Year Students are eligible to become certified in AutoCAD
3rd Year Students are eligible to become certified in REVIT
Along with the 2 most used software (AutoCAD/REVIT) in the industry, students learn and get exposure to many hand skilled techniques required in college and the industry, as well as other cutting-edge software used in the industry.
